Chase played Quake Wars

October 23rd, 2007 by Chase R · 1 Comment

OK. I’m actually still playing it. I took baby steps to get to that level where I’m not bothered with online kids teabagging me- because I’m the one doing the teabagging. After playing online, I can say the experience is much better. As with all online games, the connection violently fluctuates from tolerable to HOLYFUCKINGSHITTHISISTERRIBLE. Despite that, my major qualms (for the most part) stem from the single-player campaign. I decided I would hone my skills there before going online and looking like an idiot- and that was a horrible idea. The idea of gaining experience and ranking up is a great idea- everyone else is doing it- but it’s tough to achieve when your comrades are dribbling idiots.

I’ll be the first to admit it. I succumbed to the Halo 3 hype sirens. Their song was enticing. What can I say? Forge sounded delicious and I needed something to beat away the loneliness of sitting around in my parents’ house on a Friday night. So I went and pre ordered the game and was one of those sad, sad people that got in line hours early to pick the game up at midnight. And here I am.

Browsing around the internet like I always do because I don’t really have a life, I noticed that all the big sites were throwing perfect or almost perfect reviews for Halo 3. The only logical reason for this, I deduced, is that Microsoft gave these reviewers a harem of 13-year-old-Natalie-Portman-from-Leon robots. What? Don’t look at me like that. Statutory rape doesn’t apply to filthy robots. It’s in the Patriot Act. Look it up. I might need to go watch Hotel Chevalier now (Google it, dicks).

Halo 3: Meet your new daddy.

October 19th, 2007 by Chase R · 1 Comment

Halo3vsTF2I’m here to tell you that within less than a month, Halo 3 was dethroned as the king of multiplayer. The sad thing is, it had no idea whatsoever. Team Fortress 2, with its 9 character classes and witty dialogue, wipes the floor with Halo 3. There’s so much more to a game that lets you taunt your opponent after you destroy them- something so undeniably satisfying, that I’m even willing to say that this game beats the single player, forge, AND the theater combined. Read on so you can find out why I think so:

I’m a Cracka Ass Cracka

October 18th, 2007 by andy · 3 Comments

Tonight a couple friends and I went to dinner at Buca Di Beppo in downtown Santa Monica. I love that place, but Jesus, I feel like an AMERICA FUCK YEAH kind of guy there. Think about it. A big restaurant corporation commercializes an entire culture (in this case, Italian, for those of you who are slow) into a couple of typical Italian dishes and serves it in ultra-fatty sized portions. That’s pretty AMERICA FUCK YEAH. It’s like…. Whoa, man. Deep shit.

Since the portions are designed for 300 pound women who wear purple nylon shorts and a Big Dog t-shirt, and I am only a normal fatty, I only finished most of my food. I had the rest put in a doggy bag and walked back. During our long trek back to the cars, I realized, “I don’t want to microwave a meatball the size of my head.” So I decided to give it to a homeless guy.

THE METAL!

October 18th, 2007 by Joshua G R · 1 Comment

The D rocking it hardcore with THE METAL!
Guitar Hero is a dandy little game. Full of good times and lots of rockin’. While I love me some Guitar Hero was it worth it to buy Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground for a 5 song demo? The short answer is yes! FUCK YES!

I heard that some unscrupulous knaves were getting this demo off of torrent sites instead of through legal channels. To this, I say, SHAME ON YOU SIR OR MADAM!

The demo contains five songs and all are fun, which is to be expected of the Guitar Hero series, even Activision bought the rights. The songs are: Lay Down by Priestess, Even Flow by Pearl Jam, The Metal by Tenacious D, Hit Me with your Best Shot by Pat Benatar and Rock You like a Hurricane by the Scorpions.

Would You Kindly Read This Review (Spoiler)

October 17th, 2007 by andy · 2 Comments

Bioshock, the number one game in the first-person-shooter-about-a-guy-who-crash-lands-into-a-crumbling-underwater-utopia genre, has come and gone. Since Josh won’t shut the fuck up about me writing something, I guess I’m here to give my opinion about it.

To put it simply, it’s rad. Totally rad. The game’s unified art direction, brilliant storytelling and unique combat really make it interesting. I’m just going to assume everyone reading this has played it by now and won’t go “THESE ARE PLASMIDS THE STORY IS TOLD MAINLY THROUGH RADIO MESSAGES BLAH BLAH BLAH WHATEVER.” So if you haven’t played it yet, you can do two things at this juncture: a) fuck off, and b) go buy it and play it you lazy sonofabitch.

If this game does not excite you, you have a vagina. Full of penises.

This image may not look like much because Game Informer, for the most part, is full of retards. For years, they’ve been made fun of for being the least informed of the gaming magazines out there. (Helloooo irony!) Now, after running shitty stories and releasing old/outdated information for a while, they got their shit together somewhat. They’ve transitioned from the kids with helmets who shit their pants and draw shapes in class all day into normal kids who get beat up, stuffed in lockers, and called fags. Congratulations.

They have received a cover story like none other. And it is now that I severely hope they are not blowing smoke up our collective gamer asses. This game on their cover will change the face of the planet. With voice work by none other than Jack Black, game design by TIM FUCKING SCHAFER (I love you for Psychonauts. I love you so much. Where are you going? Don’t run…), and music in the trailer by DIO….we have a masterpiece on our fucking hands. If you don’t believe me, watch this: (video after the jump.)

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go wipe my dickmouth.

Prepare Yourself?!

October 17th, 2007 by Dennis Q · 1 Comment

So, it’s October 16, 11:16 PM Central Time. If you haven’t heard, hours from now, Capcom is about to make a HUGE announcement, equivalent to that of a “Megaton Bomb”. If you check the Capcom Website, you’ll even notice a countdown clock in place, also with the words: “Prepare Yourself.”

So what’s the big deal, you ask?

It all started at Tokyo Game Show 2007. Capcom apparently had “3 big news to announce”, which had fans hoping that Street Fighter IV may finally be released. It turns out, according to a Capcom rep (here and here), that they were all just RUMORS. There were never “3 big news” to announce, to begin with. Which, of course, left a lot of fans dejected.

But nearly a month after that hoax, Kotaku released an article regarding an announcement so huge, it’s an equivalent of a “Megaton Bomb”! Specifically, Brian Dunn of Capcom adds with: “…everyone at Capcom knows all the fans are extremely anxious for a NEW SF game, believe me. That’s about all I can say about that…”

But that’s not all! There’s also this cryptic blog entry at Capcom USA’s website, titled: “Prepare Yourself”. The cryptic message, being a series of question marks:

??? ???? ????????????? ???? ??? ????????? ? ????? ? ??????.

??????? ???????? ??? ? ?????!

And so, rumors (or promise, however you want to view it as) of a possible Street Fighter IV had been reborn!

As I’m typing my first ever article for Power Glove Love, the timer is counting down to 8 more hours. I feel like a kid again, waiting to open his presents for Christmas! Oh well, for the mean time, we can speculate a bit more! My guess is, it’s not just going to be one announcement, but several HUGE announcements, which are going to be most or all of what’s below:
